Entangled Values: construction of a global conception of Australian Indigenous arts
Résumé
Focusing on the Indigenous Australian Art Commercial Code of Conduct funded initially by the Australia Council and directed by several peak bodies for the visual arts and Indigenous arts - an initiative that has emerged from the Senate Inquiry into Australia's Indigenous visual arts sector, 2006 - I analyse the way French art dealers specialized in Aboriginal arts discuss and locate value differences within or between the economic and cultural domains. The presentation of this ethnographic data will contribute to the discussion on how procedures can be designed to discuss and respect value differences.
