Paths in L2 Acquisition: The Expression of Temporality in Spatially Oriented Narration
Abstract
This chapter examines the two domains of Space and Time in Adult Second Language Acquisition. It compares how English-speaking learners of French L2 and native speakers of French and English mark boundaries and simultaneity in controlled situation where they had to describe motion events. The results show crosslinguistic differences in the discourse of French vs. English natives that can be related to the particular temporal-aspectual and spatial systems of these languages
