Nondiffracting and curved light beams for femtosecond laser micro-/nano-machining

Résumé

We review our recent advances in spatial shaping of femtosecond laser pulses that open up novel strategies in terms of laser material processing. Specifically, we show that shaping light direction to address stationary filamentation regimes allows us to overcome many of the difficulties encountered with Gaussian beam drilling. We report ultra-high aspect ratio nanochannels drilled in glass with conical Bessel beams and curved edge processing with accelerating beams. Applications to surface processing will also be discussed.
