Influence of the Feed Position in Quasi-Self-Complementary Antennas Dedicated to Multistandard Software Radio System

Résumé

This paper presents the study of the different feed positions for a multiband and broadband antenna used for mobile phone applications, in order to cover the DCS (1710 -1880 MHz), PCS (1850 - 1990 MHz), UMTS2100 (1920 - 2170 MHz) and WLAN (2500 – 2690 MHz). The proposed antenna is an "Inverted-F Antenna" (IFA) with quasi self-complementary structure. This type of structure is very interesting in terms of bandwidth and integration in the mobile terminal and the study shows that the feed position is an important parameter in the antenna behavior. This work performs a simulation by HFSS to design the antenna and to realize prototype. The measured results compared to the simulation show good agreement despite the technical difficulty to feed this kind of structure.
