Nano-Scale Modeling of Confined Liquid Films and Bridges

Résumé

The lubrication phenomena of nanoscale liquid bridge were simulated by molecular dynamics method changing the width of liquid bridge and its characteristics of lubrication were analyzed. Lees-Edwards method was used to maintain velocity gradient in a liquid bridge. We firstly determined the width of liquid bridge and interfacial region. From these results the viscosity coefficient of liquid bridge was estimated. Moreover, the viscosity coefficient was modelled by dividing it into two contributions, that of bulk region and that of interfacial region. The model function was validated by comparing it with those obtained by another method.
