Emerging cloud-based internet of things

Résumé

For emerging services using ICT, many new types of devices will be connected to networks and cloud computing will be essential for integrating storage and computing functions with the network. The Internet of Things is a new paradigm integrating physical objects into the Internet. It brings about information sharing and collaboration among objects which helps to enhance and optimize their functionalities. As various objects have resource constraints and mobile characteristics, combining clouds and the IoT is required for resource provisioning for objects in dynamic networking environment. Therefore, this talk addresses the cloud-based IoT which aims to efficiently support various services using cloud technology from different kinds of objects (e.g., devices, machines, etc). In this talk, we discuss architectural views for the IoT using local and public clouds, use cases and key technical challenges to stimulate related standardization activities.
