L'acupuncture extrême-orientale face à la modernisation de la médecine occidentale (XVIIe-XIXe siècles)

Résumé

How come that acupuncture, discovered by Europe at the end of the XVIIth century, established durably in France only in the XXth century ? Conversely, how was the modernized western medicine of the XXth century able to integrate acupuncture, tradi- tional medicine ? The explanation shall alternate between the historical account and the analysis of its conditions : it's not about telling the story of the mistakes and successes of the heroes of French acupuncture, but about revealing the conditions which made possible or impossible its introduction. In other words, we want to make the history of the reception of a far eastern medicine in the medical West. The first reception of acupuncture happens during the modernization of western medicine from the XVIIth century
