Optical compression scheme to simultaneously multiplex and encode images
Résumé
This manuscript presents a new spectral compression method which can be straightforward used in a POF (Phase Only Filter) correlator. This new method can: (1) reduce required memories and transmission time; (2) reconstruct original images by only using phase information in Fourier domain which should be iteratively processed; (3) increase the peak-to-correlation energy (PCE) at the output of the correlator; (4) be easily adapted to fit any encryption-compression technique. To increase the compression ratio of our spectral compression method, an optimal phase coding based on "a fading grid" is performed, i.e. our method allocates high bit number for highly phase information. The selection of highly phase information can be achieve using the concept of "RMS Duration" previously proposed by Papoulis. In fact, a variable bit number has been used to quantize the phase information of each frequency.
