Modelling of contact-friction interactions in fibrous assemblies for the simulation of the mechanical behaviour of braided ropes

Résumé

An approach based on finite element method simulation, and focusing on the modelling of contact-friction interactions within assemblies of fibers is proposed to simulate the mechanical behaviour of braided ropes. The model is first employed to compute the unknown initial configuration of the rope, and then applied to simulate various loading cases.
