Presence of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance in isolates possessing in Greece

Résumé

Among nalidixic acid-resistant, ciprofloxacin-susceptible and clinical isolates recovered over a 5-month period from inpatients and outpatients of Attikon University General Hospital (Athens, Greece), only one was positive for and one was positive for . Both isolates were extended-spectrum β-lactamase-negative, metallo-β-lactamase-positive and carried the gene. Neither of the isolates had mutations in and or carried or . The isolate also harboured on the same transferable plasmid with . This is the first report of a -positive and -positive harbouring a concurrent gene.
