Estimation of the vehicle lateral positioning from the Inductive Loop
Résumé
This paper presents an estimation of the vehicle lateral positioning at a point on a highway from the Inductive Loop Technology (ILT) . The estimation of the vehicle lateral position consists in working with the signature of two shifted inductive loops. The proposed system is based on a pair of inductive loops (French standard) but shifted laterally. This original geometry allows on the one hand to measure the usual parameters (flow, speed, classification) and on the other hand to measure the lateral positioning of vehicles. The principle then consists in measuring the maximum amplitudes of two signatures. The latter allow to find the lateral positioning by using an experimentally determined equation. In this paper, we also analyze the influence of original geometry on speed measurement and on estimated classification.
