Comparative study of intensity noise in quantum dash and quantum dot lasers

Résumé

Relative intensity noise of quantum dash and quantum dot are compared. It reveals poorer results for quantum dots (lower relaxation oscillation frequency, lower damping rate, higher RIN). The competition between modes or so-called partition noise is analyzed for both structures.
