An overview of theorethical bases of barrier modelling approaches

Résumé

This paper reviews the theoretical bases of the barrier modelling analysis, and introduces a novel risk analysis approach by stressing the barrier concept. In this approach, the barriers are modelled according to their effects on the different parts of the system. By defining danger zones, based on fuzzy set concept, the consequence of presence of a target into a danger zone is evaluated and in this manner the static and dynamic risk indexes for the human body organs are calculated. This model is used to develop a risk analysis workbench in an industrial design application system.
