Investigation of the electrocatalytic activity of boron-doped diamond electrodes modified with palladium or gold nanoparticles for oxygen reduction reaction in basic medium

Résumé

The paper reports on the electrocatalytic activity of boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes electrochemically modified with palladium (Pd) or gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) towards oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in alkaline medium. The BDD/Pd NP interface shows a well-defined diffusion-controlled voltammetric oxygen reduction peak at ?0.25 V vs. Ag/AgCl. This is more positive than the ORR peak at ?0.59 V vs. Ag/AgCl observed on BDD/Au-NP composite electrodes. The ORR proceeds via a four-electron process in both cases.
