Landscape ecology as a contribution to sustainable agriculture projects
Résumé
Landscape ecology focuses on the spatial relationships among landscape elements, the flows of energy and mineral nutrients, the population dynamics of species among the elements, and the ecological dynamics of the landscape mosaic through time. Here we present the main concepts of landscape ecology, how landscape design and management impact population dynamics and biodiversity and how the framework of landscape ecology can be used to improve agriculture sustainability. Case studies from temperate and tropical ecosystems are presented and discussed
