PAPR reduction method for OFDM systems using dedicated subcarriers: a proposal for the future DVB-T standard
Résumé
This paper presents a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction method for OFDM systems using dedicated subcarriers. A tone reservation (TR) based method with second order cone programming (SOCP) optimization approach is studied and its pertinence for the future terrestrial digital video broadcasting (DVB-T) standard is discussed for the first time. Performance in terms of PAPR reduction is presented and compared for different numbers of dedicated subcarriers. Simulation results based on current DVB-T standard parameters show that a redution of PAPR by 4.6 dB is achieved when only 1% of dedicated subcarriers is used. The trade-off between the PAPR reduction gain and the increase of the mean transmit power is also discussed.
