Comparison of Two Distincts Approaches for Wind Turbines Control Design

Résumé

This paper presents the comparison of two approaches for Wind Turbines (WT) control design. The classical approach analyses the system for choosing the controlled variables before designing a linear controller. The second approach consists on inversing a Causal Ordering Graph (COG) representing the system in order to design a non linear controller. After giving the main control objectives and the modelling of the considered WT, the design of the controllers in Partial (PL) and Full Load (FL) is described. Simulations show that the two approaches give similar results in PL and that the COG approach leads to a better WT behaviour in FL.
