Optical synchrotron emission and turbulences in extragalactic jets.

Résumé

The optical synchrotron emission from extragalactic jets can be explained by the diffusive shock acceleration. But this process seems to be so efficient that the magnetic turbulences must be quite low. As to the origin of these turbulences, the interaction of the jet with the ISM may provide a common explanation for optical emission and one-sidedness of extragalactic jets.
