              <p>Anorexia nervosa (AN) is an eating disorder which induces fat and protein depletion. Body composition analysis by bioimpedance is a convenient diagnostic tool as it is non invasive and can be repeated frequently and weight monitoring alone is not sufficient. The goal of this paper was first to investigate the feasibility of using bioimpedance for monitoring refeeding of anorexia nervosa. Another goal was to find relevant parameters to help the medical team in his diagnosis. Whole body impedance measurements were taken with a multifrequency Hydra 4200 impedancemeter (XitronTech, San diego) and a foot-to-foot impedancemeter (FFI) (TEFAL Bodymaster® Vision). 13 anorexia nervosa patients participated in the study (6 weeks of monitoring). TBW, ECW and ICW volumes (Vt, Ve and Vi) were measured by the hydra and fat free mass (FFM) and fat mass (FM) were obtained using FFI. Various parameters like hydration rate, Body Cell Mass (BCM) or muscle mass were calculated. Some indices like exchangeable sodium or Total Body Potassium (TBK) were calculated respectively by Moore’s equations and Kotler’s equations.</p>
