MR-fluid-based haptic interface
Résumé
A haptic interface based on magneto-rheological (MR) fluids is presented. The device is aiming for low inertia and the possibility of emulating quasi free-space motion as well as moderate resistive forces. It is based on the direct shear operating mode of the MR fluid with a slider. Friction caused by the translation motion of the slider is highly reduced by the use of a membrane that ensures sealing for the fluid container. The first experimental results are reported.
