Electric insulation coordination to prevent electric arcs in lithium-ion batteries
Résumé
Battery systems, particularly those for electric vehicles, are built using a simple architecture with few components. The battery management system (BMS) is considered as the key component for safety. Literature and our own experience tend to prove that multiple insulation defects for example due to coolant leakage is often the initial cause of batteries fires [1, 2]. Batteries, such as lithium-ion technology ones, for example, have specific risks [3]. It is necessary to design electric architecture and electric insulation coordination in accordance.
