A new SARmeter for the assessment of 3G phone personal exposure

Résumé

The mobile phone is one of main sources of exposure of the persons to the radiofrequency electromagnetic fields. The exposure due to these devices is estimated according to standards which impose the measure of the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) as well as the tested configurations. The real exposure to the mobile phone depends on numerous parameters of which the emitted power which can vary in strong proportions through the power control. The real exposure can thus differ strongly from the normative exposure. The study of the real exposure to the mobile phone requires to measure the emitted power of the mobile according to time during the communication. The SARmeter is a portable device which allows this measurement. A new version of the SARmeter was designed and realized, with strongly improved performances, for characterizing the real exposure to the 3G mobile phones, the power control of which reaches 70dB.
