A Guided Tour of AltaRica Wizard, the AltaRica 3.0 Integrated Modeling Environment

Michel Batteux

Résumé

AltaRica 3.0 is the third version of the AltaRica modeling language. AltaRica 3.0 relies on the S2ML+X paradigm, i.e. on the idea that any modeling language used for safety and reliability studies (and beyond) is actually the combination of an underlying mathematical framework and a set of constructs to structure models. In the case of AltaRica 3.0, the mathematical framework is the notion of guarded transition systems (the X) and a versatile set of object- and prototype-oriented constructs (S2ML). The result is a very powerful language that enables to taking into account dynamic phenomena (e.g. system reconfigurations) and comes with a set of efficient assessment tools. The objective of this paper is to make a guided tour of AltaRica Wizard, the integrated modeling environment supporting AltaRica 3.0. This environment includes the editor to author models, the interactive simulator to execute step by step sequences of events, the compiler to Boolean equations (fault trees), the generator of critical sequences and the stochastic simulator. Each of these assessment tools embeds advanced algorithms whose correctness is mathematically established.
