Abstract

Nowadays, cryptographic acceleration and hardware security modules are introduced in smartcards, smartphones, electricity meters and cars electronic controllers. They are used to provide secure storage for important data such as symmetric or asymmetric keys or to accelerate cryptographic calculus. In this work, we study the performance of Freescale i.MX6 cryptographic accelerator, namely Cryptographic Acceleration and Assurance Module (CAAM).We demonstrate that CAAM is suited for application requiring the encryption or the signature of large data chunks such as secure boot or software signature.
