Service scheduling scheme based load balancing for 5g/hetnets cloud ran
Résumé
Offloading to external extra resources total or part of the workload generated by applications running on mobile handsets has been proposed as a way to enhance mobile user quality of experience. However, allocating offloading requests to virtual machines (VMs) is one of the most challenging problems in the cloud computing domain area. In this paper, we consider a Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN) architecture. C-RAN is a novel mobile network architecture that brings baseband processing units (BBUs) for a set of base stations into a central server keeping only remote radio heads (RRHs) at the cell sites. We consider a set of mobile users that can offload their computation on edge cloud: Cloud-RRH. In that case, a critical task is to determine where to allocate user application across the different VMs as to improve network performances. This paper proposes a model and algorithms that should be used by Cloudlet Manager for resource allocation considering load balancing and execution time. Simulation results show that the proposed task scheduling scheme permits to reduce makespan and achieve load balancing between VMs.
