Les parties du discours dans la tradition grammaticale arabe

The parts of speech in the Arabic grammatical tradition

This contribution aims to shed light on how the Arabic grammatical tradition has theorized and implemented the system of parts of speech. The word (kalima), the parts of speech (kalim), the noun (ism), the verb (fiˁl) and the particle are addressed successively. One of the points that emerge from this study is that the parts of the speech, although formally defined in terms of necessary and sufficient conditions, function in practice as paraphrastic families.
Cette contribution vise à mettre en lumière la manière dont la tradition grammaticale arabe a théorisé et mis en œuvre le système des parties du discours. Sont abordés successivement le mot (kalima), les parties du discours (kalim), le nom (ism), le verbe (fiˁl) et la particule. L’un des points qui se dégagent de l’étude que les parties du discours, bien que définies formellement en termes de conditions nécessaires et suffisantes, fonctionnent dans la pratique comme des familles paraphrastiques.
