Transposition of research knowledge: From the West to Far East Asia
Résumé
Theories and methodologies in mathematics education are disseminated into different international contexts. In this paper, we aim to explore conditions and constraints underlying the transposition of theories and methodologies from the West to East Asia (Japan in particular). Reflecting on two case studies in terms of the anthropological theory of the didactic, we discuss some cultural specificities of researchers' work in Japan that contrast with those in the West: regarding the relationship between researchers and teachers, the nature of theories in relation to the practices, and so forth.
