Résumé

In this paper we take a look at an edition of Euclid’s Elements from 1704 called Elementa Euclidis: sine demonstrationibus that belongs to the holdings of the old school library of a former Jesuit gymnasium in Germany and that was edited there, too. We analyse the book in regard to its structure, content and supposed intended use, in order to find out more about mathematics education in Jesuit schools in the early modern period. It shows that the book was meant as an everyday reference book for Euclidean propositions – not for Euclidean proofs, though, as these had been excluded.
